Puerto Rico is a United States territory. A traveler flying from the mainland does not need a passport, and that removes the single most common reason a trip falls over at the airport.
We are saying this as a fact about the destination, not as advice about your documents. We do not advise on passports, visas or entry rules for anybody, anywhere, and the reason is on what the words mean.

Whether to hire a car
Honestly: it depends on whether you intend to leave the hotel more than twice. For a week of beach and two dinners, a taxi twice is cheaper. For anything else, hire one at the airport.

- There is no representative at the airport and nobody meets you. That is the band
- Restaurants near the coast close earlier than mainland travelers expect, and some close two days a week
- The rainiest stretch is late in the hurricane season, and cheap weeks in September are cheap for a reason we will state plainly rather than let you discover
- A week in one place suits people who want a week in one place. If you want to move, ask about a different band
What it costs to change it or drop it, and whose rule that is
- One hotel means one cancellation schedule rather than four, and it is usually the most forgiving on the site
- Note. Nothing else exists to cancel. The airfare, quoted separately, is the part with teeth
What is not final until we confirm
- The hotel by name, and which side of it faces the water, because the difference is real and it is the largest single line in the quote
- Whether breakfast is included at the rate we quoted or added at the desk
- The total, the deposit, and the hotel's own rule
