Nine countries, one office
Where We Work
Nine places this office books often enough to know something useful about, each with the band it usually falls into and the month that decides it. A shorter list than an agency could publish, and it is the list we actually book.
The nine, and what decides each
| Where | Usually this band | The month that decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Peru | Bought whole | May to September is dry and cold at night. The rest of the year the passes argue with you |
| The Danube | Bought whole | Spring and late autumn. High summer is hot, full, and the water level is least reliable |
| Scotland | Nights and legs | May to September for the light. Sunday services thin out all year |
| The Greek islands | Nights and legs | May, June, September. August is hot, full and dearer, and the sea is at its best |
| Morocco | Nights and legs | April, May, October, November. Inland summer is severe and we will say so |
| Andalusia | Nights bought | March to June, September to November. July and August are a decision, not a default |
| Puerto Rico | Nights bought | December to April is settled. Late in the hurricane season is cheap for a reason |
| Quebec | Nights bought | Winter is the reason to go, and a real winter. Autumn is the easy answer |
| Colombia and Ireland | Arrival bought | Avoid Holy Week and December in Colombia; avoid July and August in Ireland. In those weeks this band stops working |
Why the list is this short
Nine is the number one office books often enough to be worth asking. A list of forty would mean the same as a list of none.
Ask about a tenth place and you will be told plainly that the research has not been done yet, and that it will be done alongside you rather than presented as if it existed. Where a specialist elsewhere is the better answer, that is what you will hear. It has been said before and it will be said again.

What being in Washington changes
Everything here is priced from Washington, and that shapes the trips more than travelers expect.
- Flights
- Quoted separately from every trip on this site, because the airfare moves the day you ask, not the day you fly
- Connections
- Most of these routes involve one, and which one is available on your dates moves the figure more than the hotel does
- Arrival days
- A long haul day is planned as a travel day. An itinerary that expects sightseeing after eighteen hours was written by somebody who has not done it
- Time zones
- Six of the nine are five hours ahead or more, and the first morning is the one people waste
