Why the drives are bought
You could take the train for one of these legs and it is a good train. The other legs are long road hours on mountain passes, and a hire car there costs you the day, the insurance argument at the counter and the parking problem at both ends.

What is bought before you leave, item by item
- Nine nights in three traditional courtyard houses, held in your name and named in your itinerary
- Every drive between the cities, in a private car with a driver, including the long one over the pass

What is open, and who arranges it

- Guides for the old towns, which we will arrange in advance if you want one, and which many travelers decide on after the first day

What the open part asks of you
- The old towns are a maze on purpose and your hotel is inside one. You will get lost, and it is fine
- A guide for the first morning of the first city is the single best money on this trip, and we will say so rather than sell it quietly
- Summer inland is genuinely severe heat. April, May, October and November are the honest months
- Haggling is the norm and it tires people who are not used to it
What it costs to change it or drop it, and whose rule that is
- Each house has its own rule and courtyard houses are small, so their schedules bite earlier than a hotel's
- The driver arrangements can usually be moved with a few days' notice
- Note. Your days are yours, so changing them costs nothing
